                                        Basic Cadets
In-Processing @ Doolittle Hall, Thursday, 24 June 2010:  (Fourth Thursday of June) Arrive with all needed documents!  Parents if attending, check-out lots of info inside Doolittle once your son/daughter has walked upstairs.  You can purchase squadron pins (BCT & 1st year Academic) as well as sign up for AOG membership (WEBGUY!!) which can also be done online and by phone.  Parents that are not attending, your cadets can have cell phones upstairs in Doolittle Hall so that they can make one last phone call home to tell you what their BCT squadron will be as well as what color lanyard they'll have;  lanyard color sometimes helps you decide if it is your cadet or not in webguy's posted photos!

View from the Chapel Wall- make sure to arrive early to get a place to stand and to see them march on the Tzo to the field in front of the wall.

How to send mail to your basic cadet?
Make sure that you do write to your son/daughter as often as you can; long or short, it doesn't matter.  They won't get mail each and every day during BCT 1&2, but they'll be very grateful for what you do send.  Send a favorite cartoon, a joke, or a lttle card of encouragement but also to say just how very proud of them that you are!  They may or may not write back - but the more times that you can write (friends or family members as well) will be the best and will definitely make all the difference in the world.
*** Address their mail as "Basic Cadet xxxx" (follow link above for more instructions)  Make sure that that the envelopes are white, with standard issue flag or other types of postage.  They will probably have some "training" to do in order to get their mail, but it won't be anywhere near what might be possible if they were to receive "pefumed" or otherwise decorated articles of mail.

                                        Basic Cadets

                                         March to Jack's Valley - BCT 2:  11 July 2010
*Parents:  Make sure to answer all calls that come to your cell phone (or other) during BCT2 as the cadre often will hand their cell phone to basics if they've done something well and they want to "reward" them with a chance to call home.

                                        Basic Cadets
                                         BCT 2 Ends:  31 July 2010
Have your "Beat the Beast" cards arrive by this date but not before!

                                        C3, 2 & 1:
31 July 2010;  Cadet wing returns from summer sessions and leave and must be checked in by 1900.

Basics: This is now a transition period between the end of BCT (7-31-10) and Acceptance (8-4-10) when the 4deg cadets will receive their computers, and be getting ready for classes; reporting to their academic squadrons.

C3:  3 degs will now report to their new and final squadron assignment at the end of the summer sessions.  This will be somewhat of a "limbo" year as they get used to an entirely new squadron as well as slowly gaining responsiblities and freedoms through the year;  they will mentor the new 4degs in their squadron.  By spring, they will be training these 4degs for CQ duty and applying for leadership positions for their 2deg year.  Cars are on the horizon "when the hats fly" at graduation!

Acceptance Day:  4 August 2010:  9:00 am (Parade time)
Parade for parents and about 1 1/2 -2 hours to spend with your cadet - until 1pm!  See their shoulder boards being put on by their BCT cadre (only done by cadre - not parents.  It is generally a "favorite" cadre that will do this.  Parents can take photos!);  they are now officially a part of the Wing!!  no longer "Basic" cadets....  Call them doolies and now address their mail  "C4C xxx."
Take a picnic or get lunch in the field house, Arnold Hall, the visitor center, or a buffet in Mitch's for $4.25.  Parents need to park at the Field House and take the shuttle to the parade grounds.  Make sure to take sunscreen, and or a hat!  Leave coolers in the car and retrieve after parade.  Cadets cannot leave the academy grounds; the above places are their limits for the day.
