Parents of 2014 Cadets,
Congratulations!! Recognition is now a done deal for our cadets (new lease on USAFA life!), hopefully all of them had a GREAT spring break, and now we are on the downhill slide to finishing up their doolie year!! Whoohoo!! Time to start gearing up for their new squadron assignments, finals, participating in their first graduation exercise, and then onto summer programs!
We want to thank everyone again for all their generous donations in support of the 2014 Spirit Mission/Recognition Event! I think it was a great success and the coins and banners were very much appreciated by our cadets! If anyone would still like to contribute, donation information is contained on our web site page.
Jerri Dexter has spent the past several weeks updating our 2014 Web site and it is now ready for parents to start joining (no cost!). Please go to this site: http://www.afap2014.org/ and then go to the registration area on the left-hand side of the page.
Please give Jerri time to get back to each of you on your site registration information -- she is a one-man show so it may take her time to get to everyone! On this site we can now share pictures of our cadets, and we will also eventually be able to post information or share thoughts about our class and what is going on during their rest of their USAFA military career.
Thanks to our web site link to the countdown clock, only 59 more days until we say goodbye to our graduating seniors and our cadets become C3C's, and then 85 more days until they welcome the NEW DOOLIE class!! Can you believe it???? What an eventful year it has been for our kiddos (and us parents, too!!).
Good luck on the new squadron assignments -- no surprise for us as our daughter will legacy into her brother's and father's squadron (one PROUD dad here at this home!), Tough Twenty Trolls!! Of course Libby is praying that some of her buddies from 2 Squadron end up in 20 -- but if not, another great chance to make wonderful new friends!
All my best,
Kim Taylor (Chip, USAFA 1979, USAF Reserves, Colonel, Delta Airlines, 767 Captain)
Christopher, USAFA 2007, Seymour Johnson AFB, starting F-15E training next week -- he is so excited!!
Elizabeth, USAFA 2014, 2 Squadron soon to be 20 Squadron
Katherine, GA State 2007, getting married in May, Baltimore, MD
Peachtree City, GA (home of the golf carts)
p.s. if anyone is looking for ideas on end of year sponsor gifts or gifts for any graduating seniors, the GA Parents Club will be selling USAFA Tervis Tumblers in the next couple of weeks. I will send out more information and pictures soon if anyone is interested.

Subject: 2014 Spirit Mission update!!
2014 Parents,
A quick update on how the 2014 Spirit Mission is going. We would like to THANK
everyone for all the generous donations so far!! In just over a week we have
collected approximately $5700!!! You guys are terrific!!
At this point the committee is going to go ahead and order the class coins as
they are made overseas and it takes a while. The cost for these coins will be
approximately $5000.
We are also putting together two banners to be hung in Mitch's the night of the
recognition dinner. One will be event specific and talk about their having
achieved recognition (and how proud we are of them!), and the other banner will
be more generic so that we can use it for future milestone events in our cadets'
careers. We have a few generous 2014 parents that are looking into getting the
banners donated or else to us at a reduced cost.
There are a couple of other areas we would like to have funds for if possible.
Traditionally the recognized class each year makes a donation to the USAFA Rando
Fund (one of the most worthwhile organizations I have ever seen!) of
approximately $2014. We also hope to have enough funds to donate $100 to each
squadron's morale and welfare fund (the money is always used for great things
that benefit the cadets). That would be $4000 total to cover that cost.
Again, these are what the classes before us have done and we would like to
follow in their footsteps if possible. So we still have a ways to go with our
fund-raising efforts.
If there are any parents that would still like to contribute, please click on
this link to the Paypal site:

or go to our 2014 web site: http://www.afap2014.org/
or you can mail a check to Kim Taylor, 413 Vanderwall, Peachtree City, GA 30269
(make the check out to Kim Taylor)
Also, we have had some proud grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends that have
also been contributing to our fund-raising efforts. If you have anyone you know
that would like to support your cadet and his/her classmates, please feel free
to send this email on. And if anyone has squadron specific email rosters or
access to state parents clubs, please forward this on as well.
And we would like to express our appreciation again to all the forum
owners/moderators for allowing us to connect with parents through your site!
Thank you all again for your tremendous and generous support!! We are just
about starting the countdown to recognition and I know the doolies are anxious
to get it on! (and over with :-)))
